Berries & Nuts

We all love berries, in all their forms. Jams, jellies, preserves, dried, fruit leather, and many other forms are delicious. I personally love blackberries, and my husband is expecially fond of concord grapes. My kids love the jellies, jams and preserves, with peanut butter on bread. They’ll take cashew butter, or hazelnut butter, but they especially love peanut butter. Nuts are amazing healthy snacks, and nut butters are just about as good as jams and jellies. So if you can’t find the fresh berries and nuts, have a jelly and nut butter sandwich. Listed here are the proven health benefits of eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Give it to your kids when they ask, and have one yourself while you’re at it.  if you don’t like them, I’ll bet your kids love them, and there’s nothing wrong with giving a kid a PB&J sandwich. Unless the child happens to be allergic, let them have it. If your child or you are allergic to one type of nut, try something else. If you’re allergic to one type of berry, try something different. Have fun experimenting with different combinations of nut butters and berries. If you have the means, buy one of those old-fashioned meat grinders, and make your own nut butters. Don’t remove the natural oils, though, because that is a good source of many of the beneficial stuff that’s in the nuts, such as omega-3, -6, and -9 fatty acids. Many of these can be found in other places, as I’m sure you have heard that fish oils have them, but it’s so much tastier to have it in a hazelnut butter and strawberry preserve sandwich. While I’m not saying fish are bad (I love fish), I love to have a sandwich, too, and a nutbutter sandwich with some jelly or preserves just hits the spot sometimes.
